The Biodiversity of Australia program was "rooted" in field work.

Special Programs

The University Honors Program is proud to host a number of challenging, invigorating, even award-winning special programs. All special programs are coordinated and facilitated by Honors instructors and faculty, and each program offers our students a remarkable opportunity to see the world (or even themselves) in a new light.

Scribendi: A Western Forum for the Arts and Sciences

Scribendi is an annual undergraduate literary magazine affiliated with the Western Regional Honors Council and distributed to over 200 colleges and universities in the western United States. UHP students serve as editor, assistant editor, copy editor, art director, proofreader, and business manager.

Conexiones-Spain

Conexiones-Mexico

Conexiones (Mexico) is an intensive program of culture and language study at UNM and the field site of Morelia (Michoacan), Mexico.

Route 66: An American Road

New Mexico and Route 66 are inexorably intertwined. For much of New Mexico it was the main street, and every famous store, hotel, or tourist trap was located on it. This seminar is a field-based learning experience.

From the Rockies to the Andes

This program provides a comparative study of human and natural history of two regions: New Mexico and Western Argentina. The presence of research stations in both regions will make students’ research more productive.

Sacred Sites of Northern New Mexico

Northern New Mexico is home to a diversity of spiritual traditions: Western, Eastern, Native American, Roman Catholicism, Christrianity, new age spirituality, and Communal Processes. This program takes students into three distinct spiritual communities for field-based learning.

Biodiversity of Australia

This intensive summer field course spans approximately one month and will take place in several different settings in northeastern Australia including sub-tropical rainforest, tropical savannas, tropical rainforest and marine ecosystems.
