Johannes Barfield featured in Southwest Contemporary’s Weekend and Auction

We were proud to see Honors College faculty member Johannes Barfield featured in Southwest Contemporary’s Weekend and Auction in Santa Fe, Sept. 4 and 5. You can still explore THE DREAM in the auction, which runs through Sept. 9.
A visual and sound artist whose work spans installation, photography, sculpture, video, music, and printmaking, Johannes builds imaginative worlds through storytelling across multiple media. His original lithograph, THE DREAM, will be featured in the Southwest Contemporary Benefit Art Auction. Created in collaboration with Tamarind Institute, the work comes from an ongoing science fiction narrative Johannes has been developing over the past six years. In the scene, Pilot Coaltrain dreams of becoming a cardinal, a recurring figure in the larger story.
The Dream offers a glimpse into Johannes’s evolving universe of images, sound, sculpture, and storytelling. The lithograph will also be featured in his upcoming solo exhibition, Soft Crash, at Tiger Strikes Asteroid in Philadelphia, opening Oct. 8.
