Giving to Honors
The UNM Honors College provides a unique educational environment for motivated students regardless of major or degree. Private support is vital to the success of this College and ensures our ability to provide exceptional educational experiences to our students.
Honors College Alumni and Friends Fund
This fund provides the Honors College leadership with the means to address the greatest needs of the College. This can include support for student programming, facilities and equipment, academic fees, conferences, travel, etc. The Honors Alumni Legacy Fund allows alumni to give in the most flexible way possible, providing needed support to a variety of Honors College activities.
Honors College Research Institute
The Honors Research Institute (HRI) supports the close student-faculty collaboration that defines the Honors College. HRI funds data collection, fieldwork, travel, equipment and other costs associated with mentored student research projects.
Honors College Study Abroad Programs Fund
The Honors College recognizes how transformative international study can be, yet many students cannot afford these experiences on their own. The Honors College Study Abroad Program offsets some of the program costs of faculty-led international programs and provides scholarships to students who would otherwise not be able to take advantage these opportunities.
Jackie Schlegel Endowment for Scribendi Journal
Scribendi is a nonprofit annual print publication of honors undergraduate students work. Through this yearlong award-winning course and educational internship, student staff members gain practical hands-on experience in copy editing, typography, graphic design and magazine layout, Adobe Creative Suite, fundraising, marketing and distribution and small business management. Scribendi showcases poetry, creative nonfiction, short fiction, foreign language, visual art, digital art, photography as well as other media.
Rosalie Otero Honors Student Research Scholarship
One of Dr. Otero’s ambitions for the new Honors College is to establish a research center to support and fund Honors students best research projects. This endowment is a first step toward both realizing that ambition and honoring Rosalie’s contribution to the lives and work of students faculty and staff from so many schools over these last twenty-five years.
Bequests
Giving through a will is a simple yet meaningful way to provide support to the organizations that you have cherished during your lifetime. Often times, a gift through a will is the most significant charitable gift an individual will make. By telling us that you have provided for the Honors College with a bequest to the UNM Foundation, we can show our appreciation during your lifetime. It is important to clarify with the organization you wish to support the appropriate language to describe your gift so your intentions can be fulfilled.
