Daniel Feng is a rising senior majoring in Biochemistry and minoring in Health, Medicine, and Human Values. He is a premed student interested in pursuing a career in medicine, hoping to become a compassionate physician in his home state of New Mexico. He is very involved in extracurricular activities, being an avid member of UNM AMSA, UNM ACS, UNM HPS, UNM Honors College, and more. Daniel also is a lab assistant for a biology lab, helping uncover the mechanisms of neural crest cell development for craniofacial features. Outside of academics, he enjoys swimming, listening to music, playing clarinet, and speed solve Rubik’s Cubes; his best time is currently 8.32 seconds. Daniel is very grateful to have been selected for the scholarship award and will continue to work towards his goal of a medical career!
Ariana “GoGo” Salguero is a dedicated student from rural New Mexico, double majoring in English and Political Science. She’s an upcoming Mellon Mays Undergraduate Fellow and has already gotten a taste of the legal world through her internship with the 9th District Attorney’s Office, where she worked on real cases and confirmed her goal of becoming a lawyer. She’s excited to keep learning, growing, and finding new ways to use her voice for change.
Andrew Bride is an economics major pursuing minors in honors and mathematics from Palm Coast, Florida. Within economics, he is particularly interested in questions of housing, political economy, and the convergence of the two viewed through institutional trust. On campus, Andrew is deeply involved with the New Mexico Basic Needs Consortium— based in the Honors College. There, he collaborates with others in the housing space to build responses to housing insecurities within our campus communities across the state. After UNM, Andrew hopes to pursue a PhD in Economics and a career in policy research.
Cruz Ha was selected as the John Morrison Scholarship Recipient. Currently, he is studying Business Administration with a concentration in Marketing while earning a certificate from Honors College. Cruz serves as a Multimedia Coordinator for HSA.
Anthony Languit is a rising senior majoring in biochemistry with a minor in Honors interdisciplinary liberal arts. He conducts research at the UNM School of Medicine, is an Executive Director within ASUNM, tutors organic chemistry, mentors new honors college students, and volunteers at Presbyterian hospital.
Lilly Porter is a musician, creative writer, and visual artist working toward a bachelor’s degree at UNM with a double major in Viola Performance and English and a minor in Honors Interdisciplinary Liberal Arts. She is passionate about the power of the arts and storytelling to make a difference in people’s lives as well as furthering arts education. She has taught violin and viola, traveled abroad to study music and writing, and works to promote music at UNM as the UNM Music Department Marketing Assistant. Having performed violin, viola, and viola da gamba throughout the Albuquerque community and beyond, she hopes to finish her degree and go on to complete a graduate certificate, masters, and Ph. D to become an applied music professor as well as writer.
Kadra Guillermo was born and raised in Albuquerque, and she is a junior majoring in English-philosophy with a minor in women, gender, & sexuality studies. She is a writer and avid reader who loves to give back to the creative community. Kadra has served as the managing editor of Scribendi, the vice president of the Honors Student Association, and a Pathmaker mentor for the 2024-2025 school year. In the future, she hopes to graduate with an MFA in creative writing and publish a book.
Marcello Delle Site is a Navy veteran majoring in Computer Science and minoring in Speech and Hearing Sciences. He is also on the Executive Board of the Alpha Tau Omega fraternity as the New Member Educator. Marcello joined ATO because he wanted to impress upon my fraternity brothers the values held dear in his military experience, such as integrity, discipline, and work ethic. This Spring marks the end of Marcello’s first year at UNM, but since he transferred credits, he is not technically a freshman. Currently he is interested in pursuing work either programming Augmentative and Alternative Communication (AAC) or working in data analysis.
Adler Freshman Scholarship

Seeun Choi is a freshman majoring in Economics with minors in Honors Interdisciplinary Arts and Management at the University of New Mexico. Originally from Seoul, South Korea, Seeun aspires to become an economic analyst or pursue a Ph.D. in the future. She enjoys creative activities such as knitting, which she explored through her Experiencing Honors class, and deeply values the supportive community within the Honors College. Seeun is honored to receive the Adler Freshman Scholarship and is grateful for the encouragement and opportunities provided by the Honors community.
Allison Shaver is majoring in Astrophysics and is on path to get an Honors Distinction. After her undergraduate program, Allison hopes to obtain her PhD in astrophysics. Her dream is to conduct astronomy-based research. In Allison’s free time, she dances for the SLOPE program and is a member of both the Honors Student Association and the Society for Women Engineers.
