Course Description

This course explores the nature of creative collaboration, the essential role communication plays in the collaborative process, and the transformative/healing potentialities that lie therein.  Participants will learn a variety of communication strategies that support different models of collaboration.  In addition, they will gain hands-on experience by collaborating on a creative community-engagement project of their choice.  Learners from many different backgrounds and disciplines will benefit from the course including healthcare workers, artists (musicians, dancers, actors, visual artists, writers), educators, for-profit and non-profit business leaders, and community activists.

Requirements

Most of the articles, book chapters, and video links will be provided on Canvas for the students.  Readings will cover variety of topics in the areas of healing, creativity, communication, and collaboration.

About the Instructor(s): Patricia Repar

Dr. Patricia Repar is a Professor in the Departments of Music and Internal Medicine (section of Integrative Medicine) and teaches composition, computer applications in music, and the courses that make up the Healing Arts Certificate Program.  She founded and currently directs Arts-in-Medicine at UNM which is a nationally recognized program of clinical service, research, and education.
