Course Description

Thinking about thinking is a deep dive into critical thinking. How do you generate references to increase your critical thinking abilities. How do you use those sources to guide your thought process and guide experimental design. In this course we will look into how do we generate a bibliography, design experiments guided by the literature, how to obtain funding to explore your idea, and write up a mock grant proposal to fund your ideas.

No specific texts, each student will find their own peer-reviewed literature sources that will be approved by me.

Requirements

Generating a literature review, writing annotated bibliographies, learning to use Pivot search engine for grant funding, write proponents of a grant: a narrative, a budget, budget justification, and a professional C.V. Students will submit a mock-grant proposal for the final project utilizing the solicitation for the granting agency as guidelines for the assignment.

About the Instructor(s): Jake Greenberg

Dr. Jake Greenberg was born and raised in Albuquerque, New Mexico. Jake earned 2 Bachelor's degrees from UNM in Chemistry and Biology and earned his PhD in Chemistry from the University of Colorado: Boulder. Jake's major passion in life is research, Jake has published 10 academic articles and is currently running a very active research program, currently serving 15 students.
