Bio:
Dr. Richard Obenauf is a scholar of censorship, tolerance, and intolerance. After earning his BA from UNM, he earned his MA and PhD from Loyola University Chicago. He has published on the relentless coercion of the medieval world, but he is most interested in the rise of tolerance in the Enlightenment as the basis for our form of government and its goal of enabling a pluralistic society where everyone might thrive in their own way. Dr. Obenauf loves teaching classes with long historical arcs where students can discover how ideas have evolved over many centuries. He is thrilled to return to Honors to help pass the torch to the next generation.
